COVID-19 continues to hit Kaizer Chiefs as five more positive cases have been confirmed taking the number to 36.
As a result, Amakhosi are not going to travel to the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, Durban, for a clash against Lamontville Golden Arrows on Wednesday.
Amakhosi decided not to honour last Saturday’s home match against Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, after 31 personnel tested positive for COVID-19.
“Following further consultations with the medical department and management regarding the ongoing covid-19 outbreak that occurred at Kaizer Chiefs Village last week, Kaizer Chiefs is unable to travel for the scheduled league match against Lamontville Golden Arrows scheduled for Wednesday, 8 December at Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban,” a Chiefs statement said on Tuesday.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is yet to respond to Amakhosi’s request to postpone their December matches.
