TS Galaxy first choice goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi was stabbed during a car hijacking incident in Soweto on Saturday evening.
According to the Rockets, Buthelezi and his unnamed brother were returning from visiting their sick mother when they were cornered by car hijackers at a filling station in Soweto.
Both suffered stab wounds and were admitted in hospital. Buthelezi is in a stable condition while his brother is said to be critical.
The 23-year-old Buthelezi had just made a breakthrough getting more game time at the Rockets. He made his debut when the Rockets beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in a Nedbank Cup encounter. He then went on to keep two successive clean sheets in matches against Swallows FC and AmaZulu.
