Chippa United coach Kurt Lentjies is disappointed after his team gave away their lead and lost to Marumo Gallants 3-2 in a DStv Premiership match at Mdantsane’s Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London on Saturday afternoon.

The Chilli Boys failed to protect their 2-1 lead and crumbled in the last eight minutes of the match allowing Gallants to score two goals to win the tie.

“Obviously, disappointing result, especially that we played at home. I felt like we deserved to win, but it wasn’t meant to be. The goals they scored were purely errors from outside,” Lentjies said.

This was the second successive match at the same venue that the Chilli Boys gave away their lead. They did the same when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Royal AM last weekend.

It’s clear that the Gqeberha-based Chilli Boys have defensive problems as they have scored four goals and leaked five in their last two games.

“Remembering the principles of defending. Actually, going to the basics from my point of view,” the former Chilli Boys midfielder said.
