Not only is Kholisile ‘KC’ Cengani relieved now that Aphiwe ‘Swagger’ Boyiya’s fight against Kutlwano Ogaketse is finally going ahead on Friday, he is also very happy that his boxer easily made the required weight during a weigh-in held in Gaborone, Botswana, on Thursday.
The former South African junior-lightweight and featherweight champion is going to trade blows with Ogaketse in a vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Africa junior-welterweight title contest at the Protea Hotel Marriott in Gaborone.
Boyiya from Amalinda in KuGompo City landed in Gaborone on Wednesday together with Cengani, who is his manager, and trainer, Lonwabo ‘Lonki’ Witbooi.
“Aphiwe is ready for the fight after he together with his opponent easily made the weight in the morning,” Cengani remarked.
The former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth junior-lightweight champion will be fighting for the first time in almost two years. Boyiya has not fought since he outpointed Lindokuhle Dlamini at the Orient Theatre, KuGompo City, in November 2024. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
