If Orlando Pirates want a fight, then Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler is going to bring it to them when they meet in a DStv Premiership match at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Wednesday (17h30).
Both sides go to this match on the back of positive results with the Citizens having beaten Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-0 away with the Buccaneers whipping Royal Leopards from eSwatini 6-2 in a CAF Confederation Cup encounter.
“Going to a very big league fixture away from home against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday evening. Obviously, after the break it’s important for us to start well in the league collecting maximum points against Golden Arrows,” Tinkler said.
“We had a few days extra to work with some of the new players and I think they all integrated extremely well. I think everybody is highly motivated to go to Orlando Pirates and try to collect valuable points at this stage of the season.”
For his part, the 51-year-old former Pirates coach fully understands that facing Bucs away from home is no child’s play.
“We know it’s not gonna be easy. They are a team that’s obviously looking to ensure they finish in the top four to qualify for CAF, again. We also have objectives. We also set ourselves targets. We need to be able to go there and compete against Orlando Pirates,” Tinkler concluded.
