Luvuyo Sizani outpointed Jackson Masamba to retain his ABU SADC light-heavyweight title at the SABC’s Renaissance Centre in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, on Sunday.

All three judges agreed that Sizani from Ilinge, Komani, was dominant during the fight against Masamba and did enough to win.

Ben Ncapai scored the fight 99-92 with Namhla Tyuluba and Mfundo Mvandaba scoring it 98-93 and 98-92 respectively.

This was the second time that Sizani defeated Masamba from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Sizani outpointed Masamba in their first fight, which was held at the Mdantsane Indoor Sport Centre in October 2019.

Meanwhile, Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini defeated former South African bantamweight champion Toto Helebe in the main supporting bout.

After being decked in the third round, Cape Town-based Helebe failed to answer to the bell at the beginning of the fourth round.
