Lara van Niekerk won South Africa her first medal at the Commonwealth Games currently underway in Birmingham, England.
Van Niekerk won a gold medal after she clocked 29,73 seconds in the women’s 50-metre breaststroke on Saturday evening.
The 19-year-old Van Niekerk broke the Commonwealth Games record for the third successive time.
