Having signed a contract to defend his South African featherweight title, champion Asanda ‘Dynamite’ Gingqi is happy that Jeff Magagane has finally put pen to paper to challenge him next month.

Gingqi, who has held the SA title since he won it during his fight against Abdul-Aziz Kunert in Booysens, Johannesburg, in September last year, is now going to make a third defence when he squares up against Magagane in Johannesburg on Thursday, 29 September.

Already, Gingqi has made two successful defences against Sithembiso Maduna in March this year and Zolisa Batyi in May.

“There’s no time to relax, especially now that Magagane has signed the contract. I’m very happy that he has signed the contract because one can safely say that the fight is on. I’m working hard at the gym, even on weekends,” Gingqi said.

Magagane, who is trained by Alan Toweel in Johannesburg, defeated Maduna on points in his last fight held in May.

On the other hand Gingqi from Mdantsane is under Khangelani Jack’s watchful eye in Nxarhuni.
