South African middleweight champion John ‘Section 29’ Bopape successfully defended his title at the Dlamini Hall in Soweto on Sunday evening.

The 31-year-old champion from Alexandra in Johannesburg defeated Ladysmith’s Snamiso Ntuli by an eighth round technical knockout. 

Bopape was making the first defence of the national title he won when he stopped former champion Nkululeko Mhlongo in the 11th round at the Molemela Sport Centre in Bloemfontein in April.
