England batsmen Zak Crawley and Jonny Bairstow will start where they left off when play resumes on day two of the second Test against the Proteas at Old Trafford in Manchester at noon on Friday.
At stumps on Thursday evening, England were 111 for three after the fall of the wickets of Alex Lees, Ollie Pope and Joe Root in their first innings.
Lungisani Ngidi, Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada claimed a wicket each in an effort to restrict the home side.
After a slow start, the Proteas were bowled out for 151 runs in 53,2 overs in their first innings with Rabada top scoring with 36 runs from 72 deliveries.
James Anderson and Stuart Broad each took three wickets while Ben Stokes claimed two with Ollie Robinson and Jack Leach taking a wicket each.
