Young East London boxing trainer Khangelani Jack is sweating buckets at the gym preparing his boxers for crucial fights this month.
Four of Jack’s boxers are going to be involved in fights in two provinces – Eastern Cape and Gauteng – between 17 and 29 September.
The 33-year-old Jack is going to lead his boxer Sonwabile Marenene when he fights against veteran Luthando Mbumbulwana for the Eastern Cape junior-featherweight title in Mthatha on Saturday, 17 September.
Eight days later, Jack will man Asanda Gingqi’s corner when he makes a third defence of his South African featherweight title against Jeff Magagane at the Portuguese Hall in Turffontein, Johannesburg. His other boxer Mhlanganisi Sogcwayi is fighting in the same bill against Itumeleng Tsholo.
Jack will close the month when he ushers Luvuyo Sizani into battle against Rowan Campbell at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Thursday, 29 September. Sizani pulled out of a Friday, 30 September fight against Russian boxer Artysh Lopsan in favour facing Campbell.
