SuperSport United avenged last weekend’s MTN8 quarter-final loss to Mamelodi Sundowns as they beat the Brazilians 2-1 in a DStv Premiership match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Friday evening.
Matsatsantsa a Pitori took the lead in the ninth minute through Thapelo Maseko’s goal following a cross from Iqraan Rayners.
Matsatsantsa’s all-time top goalscorer Bradley Grobler doubled the lead on the stroke if half-time.
The Brazilians tried very hard in the second half, but found the Matsatsantsa defence in an uncompromising mood.
Sundowns finally scored through Abubeker Nasir in referee’s added time. This was the Ethiopian striker’s third goal in three matches in a Sundowns shirt.
