South African champion Lunga ‘Pressure Cooker’ Sitemela will be out to make sure that two things don’t happen on Friday.
Firstly, Sitemela does not want the South African junior-lightweight title to change hands for the third time this year. Sitemela also does not want to entertain the thought of his foe Khanyile ‘Man Dee’ Bulana becoming a two-division South African champion at his expense.
Sitemela is going to square up against Bulana in his first defence of the SA junior-lightweight title at the Vibrant Sports Centre in Ottery, Cape Town, on Friday evening.
“There’s no way that I will allow him to take the title away from me. Bulana will have to work very hard if he wants to beat me. I’m not going to give him a chance during the fight,” Sitemela said.
Dordrecht-born Sitemela dethroned Sibusiso Zingange at the Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, in May. Zingange was trying to make a first successful defence of the title he wrestled away from former champion Phila Mpontshane three months earlier.
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Bulana from Scenery Park in East London is a former SA featherweight champion, who chases his second national title.
“He is not going to get a chance to win another title. Maybe next time, not now. I can’t wait for Friday to keep my title,” Sitemela remarked.
