The number of boxers campaigning in the featherweight division at boxing trainer Khangelani Jack’s gym has forced him to advise former South African champion Asanda ‘Dynamite’ Gingqi to move up to the junior-lightweight.
Jack’s boxers Zolisa Batyi, the current SA featherweight champion, Mhlanganisi Sogcwayi and Sanele Ngoza campaign in the same division.
“It does not make sense to have four boxers campaigning in the same division. So Gingqi and I decided that he would move up to the junior-lightweight division,” Jack revealed.
Already, Gingqi from Mdantsane has a date with former South African junior-lightweight champion Sibusiso Zingange on Thursday, 23 February in Johannesburg.
Gingqi will be fighting for the first since losing his SA featherweight title to former champion Jeff Magagane last September. This is also going to be 30-year-old Zingange’s first fight since he lost his SA junior-lightweight crown to current champion Lunga Sitemela in May last year.
