He has a good record against boxers from KwaZulu-Natal and John ‘Section 29’ Bopape wants things to remain just like that as he is due to clash with Ayanda Mthembu.
The South African middleweight champion is going to make his second defence of his title when he collides with Mthembu, who is rated fifth, in Ladysmith on Sunday, 12 February.
“I’m defending my title against Mthembu, who is a strong guy. I’m not bothered at all because he has never met someone like me. I’m not going there to play games. I’m going there to beat him and make sure that my good record of winning against KwaZulu-Natal boxers remains intact,” Bopape from Alexandra in Johannesburg said.
The 31-year-old Bopape won the SA title when he stopped Nkululeko Mhlongo from Eshowe at the Molemela Sports Centre in Bloemfontein in April last year. That was the second time Bopape defeated Mhlongo.
He then went on to stop Snamiso Ntuli from Ladysmith in the eighth round during their fight, which was held at the Dlamini Hall in Soweto last July.
