Soon after receiving his belt from the International Boxing Federation (IBF), veteran boxer Bongani Mahlangu rushed to training to prepare for his next fight.

Mahlangu received his belt for winning the IBF Continental Africa junior-featherweight title after he stopped Ayabonga Sonjica in the sixth round at the Orient Theatre in East London in July last year.

And on Tuesday, the 43-year-old Mahlangu from Boipatong in the Vaal finally had his hands on his belt, which he received from IBF representative in Africa Andre de Vries.

Mahlangu is going to defend his SA junior-featherweight title against Mduduzi Mzimela, who is rated number one. The unbeaten Mzimela defeated Sanele Maduna to become the KwaZulu-Natal junior-featherweight champion in Durban last month.
