Sibusiso Zingange is aiming high and he wants to reclaim the South African junior-lightweight title he lost to current champion Lunga Sitemela in May last year.

But before the Boksburg-based Zingange can realise his dream of reclaiming the national title he must first defeat Asanda Gingqi whom he meets next month.

Zingange faces the former SA featherweight champion in Durban on Thursday, 30 March. Initially, Zingange’s fight against Gingqi was scheduled for Thursday, 23 February, in Johannesburg.

“I was informed in December about my fight against Gingqi. I was ready to face him even before the fight got postponed for next month. I want to win the fight and then challenge for the SA title again. I want to reclaim my title,” Zingange, who lost by a 10th round stoppage to Sitemela, said.

Zingange was making his first title defence when he lost to Sitemela having won the title with a points over Phila Mpontshane three months earlier.

Meanwhile, this is going to be Mdantsane-born Gingqi’s first fight since he moved up a division to the junior-lightweight.
