Australia won their sixth ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after they beat the Proteas women by 19 runs in the final played at Newlands in Cape Town on Sunday evening.
The Australians, who have been victorious at the World Cup in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020 and 2023, won the toss and elected to bat first posting 156 for six in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing 157 to win, the Proteas women only managed to knock 137 runs for six in 20 overs.
Australia batter Beth Mooney top scored for her team and was 74 not out after facing 53 deliveries while the Proteas’ Laura Wolvaardt fought hard to knock 61 runs from 48 balls.
