Aiden Markram starred with the bat as the Proteas were 314 for eight at stumps on day one of the first Test against the West Indies in Centurion on Tuesday.

Markram’s wonderful innings of 115 runs from 174 deliveries was brought to a halt by Alzarri Joseph in the 61st over. That was Markram’s sixth Test century.

Dean Elgar was the first to go after he flicked a delivery from Alzari Joseph into Jermaine Blackwood’s hands at third-man on the 36th over. Elgar knocked 71 runs after facing 118 balls.
