It’s fight on as a deal has finally been reached between the camps of world champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshingafrom East London and Filipino challenger Regie Suganob.

The news of the agreement having been reached by the two opposing camps was confirmed by Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) on Wednesday morning. RAP promotes Nontshinga’s fights.

Reaching an agreement came just on time as failure to do so would have resulted in a purse bid on Tuesday next week. Nontshinga will be making the first defence of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title against the Filipino in East London on Friday, 16 June.

The 24-year-old Nontshinga, who is trained by Colin Nathan in Johannesburg, won the title by a split decision during his fight against Mexican Hector Flores in Hermosillo, Mexico, in September last year while Suganob earned the right to challenge for the crown after he defeated his compatriot Mark Mendoza Vicelles in February this year.

Meanwhile, former South African junior-flyweight champion and current IBF Intecontinental titlist Nhlanhla “Kilimanjaro” Tyirha is going to fight on the Nontshinga-Suganob undercard.
