Acting Boxing South Africa (BSA) chief executive officer (CEO) Erick Nsikayezwe Sithole will remain in his current position until the end of September.

This follows after the BSA board, at its recent meeting, decided to extend Sithole’s contract by a further six months after his one-year secondment to lead the administrative side of the boxing regulatory body came to an end on Friday last week.

“Yes, it’s true that he will continue as acting for six months. This was approved by the board,” BSA board spokesperson Azwitamisi Nthangeni confirmed.

Initially, Sithole, who is a BSA board member, was given the job of acting CEO at the boxing regulatory body for three months after Cindy Nkomo quit at the end of December 2021. Nkomo was also acting following Tsholofelo Lejaka’s resignation as BSA CEO in August 2020.

After the end of the first three months in charge, the BSA board then extended Sithole’s reign as acting CEO giving him a one-year contract, which commenced at the beginning of April last year.
