After rumours circulated saying that Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga’s defence of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title might be held outside the Buffalo City Metro (BCM), Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) confirmed on Sunday that indeed its tournament is going to be hosted in East London next month.
Nontshinga is going to clash against Regie Suganob from the Philippines in front of his East London fans at the International Convention Centre (ICC) on Friday, 16 June.
There were rumours that the tournament was going to be held elsewhere with the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino in Gqeberha being punted as the venue for the show. The Boardwalk Hotel and Casino is the same venue where Nontshinga defeated Filipino boxer Christian Araneta in an elimination bout in April 2021.
This is going to be the 24-year-old Nontshinga’s first defence of the title he won when he outpointed Mexican Hector Flores in Hermosillo, Mexico, in September last year.
