If South African female boxing champion Sharadene Fortuin had a choice, she would fight another boxer, not face Melissa Miller for the third time in less than two years.

Unfortunately, Fortuin has no other choice as she’s preparing for yet another duel against the Eldorado Park-based former South African champion. The two are going to fight against each other at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) on Friday, 16 June.

Fortuin will be making the second defence of her SA female bantamweight title when she faces Miller whom she dethroned in August 2021 and then successfully defended her crown against her four months later. And this is going to be the fourth time that the two lasses face off with Fortuin having had the upper hand by winning on the three previous occasions.

“It’s not nice fighting against the same person now and again. I would have preferred someone else had I had a choice. But there’s nothing I can do as no one wants to fight against me. I’m going to beat Melissa for the fourth time,” Fortuin said.

The former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) female bantamweight titlist from Seymour in the Eastern Cape’s Raymond Mhlaba Municipality is sweating buckets under the watchful eye of her trainer Lonkie Witbooi in East London.
