The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport on Tuesday honoured boxing personalities with three of them having been nominees at the recent South African Boxing Awards.
Jackie Brice of Jackie Brice Boxing Promotions, World Boxing Federation (WBF) lightweight champion Lunga Sitemela, Western Cape female bantamweight title holder Simamkele Tutsheni and ring announcer Shepherd Dyani were all honoured by Western Cape MEC for Cultural Affairs and Sport Anroux Marais.
Brice was a nominee in the Promoter of the Year category, Tutsheni (Female Prospect of the Year category) and Dyani was nominated in the Ring Announcer of the Year category. Unfortunately, none of them walked away with a gong in their respective categories.
