Playing with 10 players from the 30th minute, China held on for dear life and emerged 1-0 victors over Haiti in a 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Group D encounter at the Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide, Australia, on Friday.
After absorbing pressure from Haiti as they were one player short following Rui Zhang’s red card in the 30th minute, the Chinese made sure that they didn’t lose the match. Zhang was given her marching orders following a bad tackle on Sherly Jeudy.
And the Steel Roses won the match courtesy of a second half penalty, which was scored by Wang Shuang in the 74th minute.
Meanwhile, England defeated Denmark 1-0 in an earlier 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Group D match at the Sydney Football Stadium in Friday. Lauren James scored the only goal of the match which gave England maximum points.
