Scenery Park lad Aphelele Teto will only be able to play for his new club Livingston FC in Scotland in January next year after the Scottish Premier League side failed to secure his work permit.
“I’m writing this statement with a mixture of emotions, delighted that we have secured the signing of Aphelele Teto (from TS Galaxy), but disappointed we never got the Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) for the player to receive his work permit,” Livingston manager David Martindale said on Monday.
“We will have another opportunity in January to re-apply for the player to receive his GBE, which in turn would allow us to proceed to get his work permit.”
Teto, a product of the Carlos Soccer Academy in the Buffalo City Metropolitan, joined the Scottish side from TS Galaxy last month.
