Boxing South Africa (BSA) has rescheduled ring announcer Devon Currer’s appearance before its disciplinary committee after the Cape Town-based licensee had written to the regulatory body asking for the details of his alleged transgressions.
Currer was due to appear before the BSA DC in Hatfield, Pretoria, on Thursday morning after he was charged with gross improper and disgraceful conduct and alternatively with bringing the sport of boxing into disrepute.
“Kindly be advised that your email and letters from your representative have been duly noted. We shall not respond to averments made therein and advised that due to the unavailability of the chairperson of the hearing, the hearing shall be postponed until the 29th August 2023,” a letter from BSA prosecutor Masilo Maake to Currer said.
This was a response to an email Currer sent earlier requesting a two weeks postponement of his case and asked to be furnished with the exact details of his alleged transgressions. Currer had argued, in his letter to BSA, that it was difficult for him to prepare adequately for the hearing without knowing exactly what he had allegedly done.
