With only one victory away from outright ownership of the South African junior-welterweight belt, Prince Dlomo is set to face off against Sanele Msimang in yet another title defence next month.
After dethroning Xolani Mcotheli in March 2021, Dlomo has defied the odds and successfully defended his national title four times. He made successful title defences against Siseko Makeleni, Mcotheli, Xolani Mgidi and Marcus Lebogo.
The 34-year-old Pietermaritzburg-born Dlomo is now going to clash against Msimang in Durban on Friday, 24 November.
Interestingly, Dlomo has enjoyed a very successful run against his compatriots in the last six years. He has not lost to a South African boxer since he was defeated by former SA lightweight champion Thompson Mokwana at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Seshego, Polokwane, in October 2017.
Dlomo, who defeated Lebogo at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall three months ago, has won 17 times, lost 12 fights and drawn once.
Meanwhile, Msimang from Inchanga is a World Boxing Federation (WBF) International junior-welterweight champion having beaten Luvuyo Mputi in Durban in August.
Msimang is rated second in the controversial Boxing South Africa (BSA) October ratings. His professional record reads 16 victories with eight of those ending prematurely while losing four fights.
