The Proteas moved to the top of the Cricket World Cup standings following a nail-biting one wicket victory over Pakistan in Chennai, India, on Friday.

Needing 271 runs to win after the Pakistanis were bowled out for 270 in 46.4 overs, the Proteas struggled a bit before they finally got their groove and reached their intended target in 47.2 overs.

Aiden Markram knocked 91 after facing 93 deliveries while Tabraiz Shamsi picked up four wickets and leaked 60 runs.

Meanwhile, this was the first time in World Cup history that the Pakistanis lost four successive matches.
