After landing in France on Tuesday, just three days before his fight against Frenchman Ismael Seck, South African boxer Donjuan van Heerden declared that he’s going to return home with a win.
Van Heerden will trade leather with Seck in an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Continental middelweight title fight at Palais des sports, Cahorts, on Friday.
“I’ve been good. Only three days before the fight. I feel good, I feel strong mentally. I’m well prepared for this fight,” Van Heerden remarked from France.
The 22-year-old winner of the 2023 Promising Male Boxer of the Year award is confident even though he has admitted that Seck is more like a closed book to him.
“We only watched a few videos of him. There is nothing special about him. I believe I will beat him and return home with the belt,” Van Heerden said.
Meanwhile, Van Heerden travelled to France together with trainer John Tshabalala and Khangelani Jack, the 2023 Trainer of the Year award winner.
Tshabalala said: “We worked very hard preparing for this fight. We are here to take the title, no doubt about that.”
