With many South African boxing followers having scant regard for Tanzanian boxers, Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile has cautioned against labelling the East Africans as weak opponents.

Fuzile said this as he has completed his preparations for an international junior-lightweight bout against Tanzanian opponent Emmanuel Amos Stephano at the Whittlesea Multipurpose Hall in Sada this coming Sunday.

“We should never look down on Tanzanian boxers and say they are weak opponents. Anyone who trains and prepares for a fight cannot be said to be weak,” the 27-year-old Fuzile remarked.

“I’m not going to underestimate my opponent. This is boxing and a lot happens. Boxing is full of surprises, one can lose to someone he never thought he would lose to.”

Even though the former South African featherweight champion has cautioned against undermining Tanzanian opponents, Fuzile believes that he has the beating of Amos.

“I met my opponent on Wednesday and he looks too light for me. It’s possible that I will finish the fight early. I want to win this fight and then be recognised by world boxing bodies once again. I was once rated and I’m not rated anymore. I want to go back to the ratings,” Fuzile said.

Meanwhile, the former world title contender is returning to the junior-lightweight after fighting in the lightweight division in his last fight, which was a stoppage win over Malawian boxer Romeo Makwakwa.

“I feel great and comfortable in this division. My main aim is to get an opportunity and fight for the world title again,” the Duncan Village-born southpaw concluded.
