The leadership of the Eastern Cape Boxing Promoters Association (ECBPA) is not yet ready to make any comments following the appointment of the new board of Boxing South Africa (BSA) on Tuesday.

Sport Minister Zizi Kodwa appointed Sifiso Shongwe as board chairperson to work with Luxolo September, Sakhiwe Sodo, Romy Titus, Nande Mheshe, Princess Mangoma and Dr Mary-Gene Manthata-Setati in a seven-member team.

And ECBPA chairperson Koko Godlo has revealed that they have called an urgent meeting in East London on Thursday to discuss the new board’s appointment.

“I only saw media reports about the new board. We are going to release a statement regarding that after our meeting on Thursday. We have invited Ayanda Matiti as the chairperson of the National Professional Boxing Promoters Association as well as Kaya Majeke, the treasurer,” Godlo said.

The ECBPA executive is made up of Godlo, Monica Goci (deputy chairperson), Sibongile Matiti-Mpofu (secretary), Visa Monakali (deputy secretary), Happy Tewo (treasurer) as well as Ntsikelelo Manyisane and Bongani Zulu.
