Mamelodi Sundowns made history when they became the first team to win the first nine matches of the season since the inception of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in 1996.

The Brazilians achieved this when they beat their rivals SuperSport United 2-0 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday evening.

The Tshwane giants scored both goals in the first half through Namibian Peter Shalulile in the 31st minute and Lucas Ribeiro Costa from Brazil in referee’s added time.

As a result of the win over Matsatsantsa a Pitori, Sundowns returned to the top of the Premiership standings with 27 points from nine games.
