In what many fight fans might describe as a case of one blowing his own horn, Erick Nsikayezwe Sithole strongly believes that the outgoing board of Boxing South Africa (BSA) did a wonderful job for the fistic sport.
Sithole, who also revealed that the outgoing board is going to have a special meeting in Durban next Saturday, said this during a recent interview with Ukhozifm.
“A special board meeting on the ninth, on Saturday. We will meet here in Durban. On Sunday, we will have a media briefing. I think we have done a very good job. No other board has ever done and worked like we did. You can see for yourself, history has no blank pages,” Sithole, an outgoing BSA chief executive officer and board member, boasted during the interview.
The outgoing board, which according to Sithole did exceptionally well, messed up big time in its three-year tenure as some promoters were allowed to stage tournaments without having deposited purse monies into BSA’s account.
It was under the same board that former BSA CEO Moffat Qithi won his case in the Labour Court, Labour Appeal Court and the Constitutional Court. Under this board, BSA lost a court case, which was brought by Ladysmith-based boxing promoter Nomfundo Malinga of Sugarboy Malinga Promotions.
It’s also the same board, which suspended BSA director of operations Mandla Ntlanganiso for more than three months and never charged him something which is a violation of the Labour Relations Act.
