Unbeaten South African champion Asemahle ‘The Predator’ Wellem is back with his former trainer Vusi Mtolo at the Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy in Edenvale.
With him having returned to Mtolo, Wellem has also signed a promotional contract with Golden Gloves. He was previously promoted by Happy Tewo’s Tewo Promotions.
Chintsa-born Wellem is the reigning South African super-middleweight champion having won the title when he stopped previously unbeaten Cowin Ray in the fourth round in Pretoria in October last year.
Wellem, who has won all his seven fights, last fought when he won the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Intercontinental title after he defeated Tanzanian Twaha Kassimu Rubaha five months ago.
Meanwhile, the SA champion rejoined Mtolo after having been trained by former national bantamweight titlist Phumzile Matyhila since April this year.
