An opportunity to reclaim the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title has forced former world champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga to focus on training throughout the festive season.

The 25-year-old Nontshinga is preparing himself for a rematch against his conqueror and reigning IBF junior-flyweight champion Adrian Curiel Dominguez in Mexico on Friday, 16 February 2024 (Saturday, 17 February, South African time).

“I’m looking for a change, for good. I’m looking forward to a very positive year in 2024. We are very upbeat,” Nontshinga’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.

“Sive has already started preparing for the fight and is going up to Johannesburg in the next couple of weeks to work with my assistant. I’ll be there on the ninth.”

After he was stopped in the second round by Dominguez in Monaco last month, next February’s rematch is going to give Nontshinga a lifeline and an opportunity to avenge last month’s loss to the Mexican.

The 25-year-old Nontshinga from Reeston in East London has lost once in 13 fights where he has registered 12 wins with nine stoppages.

  1. I would suggest Nontshinga to go for a rematch there is life in boxing without rematch he can go for it if they can change him that he can fight tow to tow and mix with his style of moving in the ring if he is going there with out changing his style he will not make it. I wish him a good luck
