Darrin Rossouw from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape feels that he’s now ready to be crowned a boxing champion as he’s scheduled to trade blows with Brandon Thysse in the first quarter of 2024.

Rossouw is set to clash with Thysse in an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) All-Africa junior-middleweight title contest at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park on Saturday, 9 March.

“I’m very happy to get this opportunity. I’m excited because this is something I wanted for quite some time. Fighting for a title has always been my dream,” Rossouw remarked.

Rossouw has added that he knows what to expect from Thysse after watching him in action against his stablemates Roarke Knapp and Shervantaigh Koopman. Thysse suffered a points loss to Knapp and was stopped by Koopman.

“I know that my two sparring partners and teammates have fought against him. I watched both fights live. I know a lot about how he fights and what he does inside the ring,” Rossouw said.

“I believe that the title is mine. I want to get my title in March. I have been working very hard for this opportunity. Now that the opportunity has come, I have to grab it with both hands.”

With a professional record of eight wins and a loss, the 23-year-old Rossouw defeated Capetonian Jami Webb on points at the Emperor’s Palace last month.

Meanwhile, Thysse will go to the Rossouw fight following a stoppage loss to Koopman when he challenged for the South African junior-middleweight title in September this year.
