Bottom-of-the-table side Cape Town Spurs announced the strengthening of their sieve-like defence with the signing of experienced defender Tshepo Gumede on Wednesday afternoon.
Dobsonville-born Gumede, who played for Maritzburg United in the Motsepe Foundation Championship MFC side (MFC) earlier this season, has joined the Urban Warriors on a short term contract.
“Former Maritzburg United defender, Tshepo Gumede joins the Urban Warriors! Welcome Tshepo,” an Urban Warriors statement said.
The struggling Urban Warriors have won twice, drawn once and lost 14 times. They have, in the process, scored 14 goals and leaked 34.
Gumede is a well-travelled defender having played for the Team of Choice, Marumo Gallants, Cape Umoya United, AmaZulu, Cape Town City, Orlando Pirates, Platinum Stars, Mpumalanga Black Aces and SuperSport United.
