Chippa United have reached the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup following a hard fought 2-1 win over amateur side Ravens FC at the Buffalo City Stadium in East London on Saturday afternoon.
Ravens shot to the lead when a counter attack resulted in Samkelo Ngcungama beating Chilli Boys goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali in the fourth minute.
The Chilli Boys were reduced to 10 men after Namibian Elmo Kambindu was shown a red card for a second bookable offence in the 59th minute.
That the Chilli Boys were playing with 10 men didn’t deter them from launching attacks and they equalised through Thabo Makhele 10 minutes before full-time.
The Gqeberha-based Chilli Boys scored their winning goal through Andile Mbenyane in the 108th minute.
