Yet another East London boxer has joined Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan’s growing stable as amateur star Simnikiwe Bongco is now under NO DOUBT Managament and will be trained by Shannon Strydom.

Duncan Village-born Bongco is yet to make his professional debut after he ditched his vest in March. Bongco, who amassed a number of medals in the amateur ranks, is regarded as the next big thing in South African boxing.

“Things have changed. The way I do business now is totally different from how I did business back then. When Siminikiwe asked for a meeting in my office, I made it clear that I wanted to maintain my relationship with Mzamo (Njekanye), given our history, but now we are friends,” Nathan said.

“I engaged with Boxing 5 and “Chief”, and we have a business agreement in writing which all three of us have signed. The agreement will be for the duration of the Boxing South Africa contract, which Bongco signed, which will be for two years.”

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Bongco is set to make his professional debut at a Boxing5 tournament on Saturday, 13 July.

On the other hand, Mzamo Njekanye, who trained Bongco, is part of the boxer’s two-year deal as he’s going to cash in from each an every fight the lad engages in.

“My boy migrated to Jozi with his own choice of a boxing gym. So there’s no train smash as long as we stick to our deal, and I had no problem signing the agreement,” Njekanye said. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
