Tatjana Smith, who is South Africa’s most decorated Olympian, announced her retirement from swimming at the Paris Olympics on Thursday evening.
The shocking announcement came after Smith had won a silver medal in the 200m breaststroke, finishing behind Kate Douglass from the United States of America.
Smith, 27, bagged a gold medal in the 100m breaststroke on Monday evening. She quit having won two Olympic gold and two silver medals at the Tokyo and Paris Games.
