More than 40 people have shown an interest in both the vacant positions of chief executive officer and chief financial officer at Boxing South Africa (BSA).
These developments were confirmed by BSA board chairperson Sifiso Shongwe during an interview with Ink Sport.
“In both sides of the CEO and CFO, the closing date for applications was the 26th of July. The master list has been made available to the department. We are busy screening candidates for the short-list,” Shongwe said.
“Once we’ve got the short-list, we will then contact those candidates that have been short-listed for the interviews. We are hoping Boxing South Africa to have the appointments done by the first of October. In terms of the applications on the master list for the CEO position, we received 22 applications. For the job of the CFO, we received 19 applications on the master list.”
The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has been invited to appoint a representative during interviews for the CEO and CFO positions.
BSA has not had a permanent CEO since Tsholofelo Lejaka left the organisation in August 2020. Cindy Nkomo acted as CEO from August 2020 until she left BSA at the end of December 2021.
Former BSA board member Erick Nsikayezwe Sithole held the fort from January 2022 until December last year. And Mandla Ntlanganiso, who is BSA’s director of operations, is the acting CEO.
