Boxing trainer Collin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan has confirmed the dates for his charges Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga and Phumelela ‘The Truth’ Cafu’s departure for their fights in Japan.
Nontshinga, the reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight champion, faces Japanese boxer Misamichi Yabuki at the Aichi Sky Expo Convention Centre in Tokoname on Saturday, 12 October.
Nontshinga together with his dad Thembani Gopheni, Nathan, Bernie Pailman and Hayden Jones are scheduled to leave for Japan on Thursday, 3 October with Cafu leaving South Africa two days later.
Cafu, who challenges reigning World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior-bantamweight titlist Kosei Tanaka at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo on Monday, 14 October, leaves South Africa together with Shannon Strydom, Boxing 5 Promotions boss Larry Wainstein and Mike Altamura from Australia.
Nathan together with Pailman and Jones will only join the Tokyo camp after Nontshinga’s fight against Yabuki, a former World Boxing Council (WBC) junior-flyweight champion.
