Kaizer Chiefs defeated Marumo Gallants 4-3 to lift the 2024 CUFA Cup at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday afternoon.
This match was decided on spot kicks after both sides had failed to score in regulation time. Chiefs converted three penalties while Gallants scored three and Amakhosi goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma saved two spot kicks.
There was doubt about the match being played after Gallants issued a media statement on Saturday evening saying that they had withdrawn from participating in the tournament.
However, sanity prevailed when Gallants and the organisers found each other and sorted out their differences on Sunday morning.
