Bafana Bafana left it until the second half to score goals as they beat Uganda’s Cranes 2-0 in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala on Friday afternoon.

Second half substitute Thapelo Morena capitalised on Cranes’ defensive blunder and beat Uganda goalkeeper Isima Watenga to give Bafana a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute.

Patrick Maswanganyi, another second half substitute, put things beyond the Cranes’ reach as he netted Bafana’s second goal from an Iqraam Rayners pass in the 89th minute.

And with the win, coach Hugo Broos’ Bafana are now on top of the Group K standings with 11 points from three wins and two draws while the Cranes are second with 10 points after winning three times, drawing once and losing one match.
