Coffee Bay-born Frank Samkelo Sotomela and Katlego Khanyisa from Tembisa won the IBF Africa titles at the Carnival City, Brakpan, on Saturday.

Sotomela, who is trained by Shannon Strydom in Johannesburg, defeated Theo Nxayiphi on points to win a flyweight title in an all-Eastern Cape bout. 

On the other hand, Khanyisa had the better of Lucky Monyebane as he won the vacant IBF Africa junior-lightweight title on points and Ishmaeel Kadri stopped Namibian Lineekela Nghifindaka in the ninth round to have the IBF Youth featherweight belt strapped around his waist. 

Hamza Hassim beat Sanele Thabethe on points and Doron Zinman outpointed Ronaldo Sibisi with Joshua Feldman having the better of Simphiwe Ntombela as he defeated him on points.  

It was a sweet return for Lerato Dlamini as he won by a seventh round knockout over Thai boxer Sukpraserd Ponpitak while Sikho Nqothole earned a points win when he beat Reymark Alicaba from the Philippines on points. 

Meanwhile, Lindelani Sibisi dethroned SA featherweight champion Zolisa Batyi after he stopped him in the 10th round at the Orient Theatre in East London on Sunday evening.

Dundee-born Sibisi decked Batyi three times – once in the ninth and twice in the 10th round forcing fight referee Allen Matakane to halt the proceedings.

Amzolele Dyeyi defeated Simamkele Singile via a split decision in the main supporting bout with Capetonian Nqaba Dantile outpointing Athenkosi Tunzi.

Lonwabo Sizani stopped Aviwe Mpayipeli in the second round and Oyisa Gingxana registered a points win over Anivuyi Wali.

American boxer Angelo Leo made a successful first defence of his IBF featherweight title following a majority decision win over Tomoki Kameda from Japan.

And Pedro Taduran from the Philippines retained his IBF minimumweight title with a split decision victory over Japanese boxer Ginjiro Shigeoka. 

Balocod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines 

Filipino John Michael Zulueta knocked out Komgrich Nantapech from Thailand in the third round to claim the vacant Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) flyweight title. 

And Jayr Raquinel defeated Imani Matendo from Tanzania by a fourth round stoppage to win the vacant ABF bantamweight crown.

Moses Itauma is now the WBO heavyweight number one contender after he stopped Mike Balogun in the second round. 

Ekow Essuman defeated Josh Taylor by a unanimous decision to retain his WBO European welterweight title. 

And Nathaniel Collins is the new WBC Silver featherweight champion after he beat Lee McGregor by a fourth round technical knockout.
