Angolan-born boxer Uisma dos Ramos Lima handed Shervantaigh Koopman his first career defeat at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday evening.

Lima, who is based in Porto, Portugal, successfully defended his International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-middleweight as he stopped Koopman in the ninth round.

After seeing that their boxer was in trouble having been on the receiving end of Lima’s blows, Koopman’s corner threw in the towel after he had been decked.

Meanwhile, Siyakholwa Kuse weathered the storm to defeat Filipino boxer Samuel ‘The Silent Assassin’ Salva after he got dropped in the first round.

From the second round, Kuse came back to fight and caught Salva with nice and telling combinations. This was so even though Salva always looked dangerous throughout the fight.

In the end, Kuse from Mdantsane emerged victorious with a unanimous decision as the three judges’ score cards read 97-91, 95-94 and 97-92.
