Following Mxolisi Zuma’s loss in Namibia last Saturday, it has now been announced that Siyabulela Hem is going to defend his South African junior-featherweight title against second rated Vusi Ngcamu next month.
Hem’s fight against the Gauteng junior-featherweight champion is scheduled for the Orient Theatre in East London on Sunday, 28 September.
Hem will be defending the SA title for the second time having defeated former champion Bongani Mahlangu in his first defence last December. That was a rematch of last September’s fight between the two boxers.
Duncan Village-born Hem will be fighting for the second time this year. He defeated Ghanaian boxer John Zile in a World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Youth junior-featherweight title title contest in April.
On the other hand, Ngcamu comes from a draw against Cape Town-based Ardy Katompo from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in January this year.
Meanwhile, number one rated Zuma was stopped in the sixth round by Namibian boxer Filipus Nghitumbwa during a WBO Global junior-featherweight title fight in Windhoek.
