Hunger and a desire to succeed have had the final say as Lerato ‘Light Out’ Dlamini has been forced to cut short his festive break and continued with his training camp ahead of his February fight against American boxer Angelo Leo.

Dlamini will challenge International Boxing Federation (IBF) featherweight champion Leo at the University of Texas in Arlington, United States of America (USA), on Friday, 27 February (Saturday, 28 February, South African time).

“I was only away for two days. We continued where we left off as we returned to training on Friday. And from early next month, we will start having intensive training,” Dlamini said.

Before he took a two-day break and then resumed training on Friday, Dlamini had sparring sessions with former South African junior-lightweight champion Sibusiso Zingange as well as Ghanaian Holy Dorgbetor, who lost to his compatriot John Laryea more than a week ago.

Meanwhile, the Welkom-born Dlamini’s fight against Leo will come almost two weeks after he had celebrated his 32nd birthday. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
