Asanda ‘Dynamite’ Gingqi is working very hard to make sure that all those who have predicted that he’s going to lose to Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile eat humble pie after their fight, which is scheduled for Friday, 24 April, in East London.
With his South African junior-lightweight title not at stake during the fight, Gingqi from Mdantsane is sure about the ammunition he has to neutralise and ultimately defeat Duncan Village-born Fuzile.
“I have been long training. But I started serious training after I signed the fight contract. I have heard what people have been saying about the fight. What I can say is that this is a very important and big fight for both of us. I’m going to defend my dignity and the honour of my hood Mdantsane,” Gingqi remarked.
Gingqi has been on a roll with a seven-fight-winning streak since he suffered his first and only loss during a clash against Jeff Magagane, who dethroned him as SA featherweight champion at the Portuguese Hall, Turffontein, Johannesburg in September 2022.
On the other hand, Fuzile will go to the Gingqi fight on the back of a loss to Kazakh boxer Sultan Zaurbek away in Kazakhstan in April last year. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
